Why we exist
StartHereSF was founded on the belief that buying art doesn’t have to be intimidating or expensive.  Snooty attitudes and over-inflated prices are not what we’re about.  Instead, our goal is to make buying art and building a collection doubt- and debt-free, and most importantly, fun.

What about the artist?
We’re also committed to supporting the artist – to helping them gain visibility and sell their work.  Unlike many galleries, the artists we represent keep most of the money from the sale of their work; so when you buy something from StartHereSF you’re helping to change the status of the “starving artist.”

And speaking of artists, we show work by those who aren’t household names—yet. That means you get a stellar value for original works of art – most pieces are significantly less than $1,000 with unframed works beginning at $300.  We select the artists and their works based on what we, personally, would (and do!) collect.

Where’s the Gallery?
StartHereSF is a virtual gallery. In addition to our non-salons, we offer art buying and consulting services to anyone ready to begin acquiring original art.  We also make regular home and office visits to share with you the works of artists we represent.
